The "Gruft" is one of Caritas Vienna's best-known facilities and has been offering adult homeless people a safe haven and human warmth for over 30 years. In the "Cooking for the Gruft" project, volunteers can provide active help and prepare and serve a hot meal for around 150 people. The most important ingredient is the desire to cook.
Last week, our team consisting of Amela Bilalic, Sebastina Mach, Jürgen Reinold and Clemens Klotzinger got to grips with the cooking spoons. This time, a Spätzle (German egg noodle pasta with a chewy, dumpling-like texture) pan with mushrooms and peas was on the menu. This was available with or without juicy chicken strips. For a refreshing dessert, there was yogurt with fresh fruit and cinnamon.
